When my husband and I first married we moved half-way across the country from our families, which meant we would travel back home on a limited basis.
Our first Christmas we spent together in our first apartment was a far cry from the Christmas’ we were accustomed to. It was just my husband and I. We didn’t know quite what to do, so we decided that we would make the drive home just after the new year.
Our arrival home was a surprise to our families. We spent a week traveling between and visiting with family members then packed up to head back. I remember how I cried that day and my mom pulled me in, brushed my hair back and gently spoke into my ear “cherish the small moments” she said. “Over the years of my life, I have come to realize we don’t always get a lot of time together, so I have come to learn to just cherish the moment,” she said.
She reminded me of this a few more times over the years and I have always carried it with me.
Cherish the moment
She said.
Bathe in my laughter
Hold it close to your heart.
Breathe in my smile
Feel it come across your lips.
Drink in my love
Carry it with you wherever you go.
Listen for my words
Hear the wind whisper them.
Cherish the moment
She said,
We only get but one.
Consider taking a moment today, to write down or remember a time that you hold dear.
Y’all have a beautiful day!
All My Love,
Jen
