Sometimes Holding the Football Means Trying Again

“They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” —Isaiah 40:31
“Mr. & Mrs. Frnka, we have confirmed and I am sorry, but you’ve had a miscarriage.” The words stung even a little still as I wrote them, now. Our hearts were devastated. Sadness and shame, a wonder if I could have done something different. We didn’t say much for a while.
Soon my husband received orders for our move to Germany; meanwhile, I was packing up for a weekend trip home. “Babe, I think you should just stay home.” “What do you mean?” came my words. “Just stay home and be with your parents until we move. It’s only a few months” came his reply. “I don’t want to” came my reply. “I want to be with you.” I packed my bags that weekend and didn’t return. I was sad and really didn’t know if I would make the move to Germany, but soon it was time.
Months went by after my arrival there. I found a job. My husband began playing ball for the post team and we began traveling. We were having a wonderful time. Then I heard three tiny words that helped me to know he had not given up hope. “Let’s try again” he said. Soon our beautiful German princess was born.
Oh the football games they watched. She was so fascinated by the movement on the field that most times if she was crying, she would quiet down. A beloved sport for both. The quickness of the game seems to settle both their spirits as they watch and hope for a victory.
Lord, we know sometimes the quickness of life can be overwhelming. In those moments, pull us in close to you. No words, no signals, no signs – just a timeout to be with You. We know You will provide all the strength and clarity we need to try again. Thank You, God. Have a beautiful day! Amen.
Thank you so much for praying. Have a beautiful day!
All My Love,
Jen
