Light a Fire in One Another
Ephesians 5:21: "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ."
Fire is one of the earth’s essential elements. It provides warmth in the winter, helps us to cook our food, boil water, roast marshmallows, and sometimes even helps us to get rid of unwanted material. It requires oxygen, heat, and something to burn or sustain it. It requires someone to check on it, so it doesn’t get out of control or burn out in the event that you are trying to keep warm or cook.
God calls us to love one another as we love him. When you are on fire for Christ, being on fire for your spouse becomes almost natural. As you begin to extend out your hands to your spouse more frequently, celebrate the small victories, commit yourself to them, behave with kindness, and open yourself up to receive all the love they have to offer you, the fire inside you slowly begins to burn brighter and brighter.
In case you have not noticed, we are not talking about all of the things that your spouse is doing, but what you are doing that causes the fire to get brighter and brighter, warmer and warmer.
There is of course a certain amount of space, of breathing room, that you need. And, too much checking on or stoking the fire can cause it to burn out. As you continue to practice love you will find all the peace, joy, and love that you will ever need just comes naturally.
Ya’ll have a beautiful day!
All My Love,
Jen
