Jump Into the Day Loving Your Body!

“The sun just touched the morning; the morning, happy thing, supposed that he had come to dwell, And life would be all spring.” – Emily Dickinson

Our bodies are amazing receptacles of our lives. They amaze me sometimes at the way they absorb pain and then let it go. As I reflected on Dickinson’s thoughts about the sun touching the morning, I thought more about the sun touching my body. If life can be all spring when the light hits it, so to can my body feel like spring.

But how do we do that on a daily basis when there is so much to do? Well for one SMILE! SMILE every morning as soon as you get up. Just lay there and smile.

Create a sanctuary for yourself, a place in your mind that you can go to where you do not feel pain.

Face the pain, go to the doctor and trust them to run the tests that need to be run and prescribe the medicine that needs to be prescribed and take it.

REST. Have you ever noticed that some people actually seem stronger after a major medical procedure? In part, it is because their body was at rest. Life – work – cleaning the house – it’s all going to be there waiting when you wake up, I promise. When you rest sometimes it makes everything more manageable.

Warm a hot towel and put it over the area that is in pain or over your whole body. I learned this very special trick from my beautiful parents. It makes sense to me, as I think about the warming blankets in the hospital. The pain just seems to dissipate when you are wrapped in warmth --- kind of like the sun, which brings me to my next thought.

Lay on your side – close your eyes and envision the sun rising from your body. See the yellow and orange glow, feel the warmth, let it draw from you and you draw from it all the energy that you need for the day.

Stop for just a moment and ask your body what it needs from you today. Feel it and truly listen to it. Then jump into the day loving your body!

Have a beautiful day ya’ll!

All My Love,

Jen
