As people we sometimes don’t understand or see why someone should forgive the same mistake, the same hurt, the same person over and over again. We put limits on our love.
Is it important to protect yourself? HECK YES!
But you also have to live with yourself --- so you love which minimizes the impact that the other person’s behavior has on you.
I love you and I am going to walk this journey with you for as long as you will let me. When you drink, though I don’t like what the alcohol brings out in you. What can I do to help?
I love you and I am going to walk this journey with you for the rest of my life. When you are triggered, though it can scare the heck out of me, you can withdraw, become angry, or your character can change completely and I lose my partner. How can I help?
I love you. You are my best friend and I cannot imagine life without you. I am exhausted, though and need time by myself for a few hours. Can we talk this evening?

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.
