He's Always Ready with The Big Win

“And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’” — 1 Corinthians 11:24

For me, this is the most sacred moment in Mass.

As the priest consecrates the bread and wine, he kneels, the bells ring, and he lifts the host—living and glorious. Christ, truly present. Even when babies cry or someone coughs, there is a silence that settles deep within, a peace that cannot be fully explained, only experienced. It is one of the loveliest moments on earth. For a moment, the worries of the world grow quiet, and only Christ remains.

Jesus promises us in John 6:56, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in them.” The Eucharist reminds me that He is not distant. He is with us.

I have seen Him while holding the football.

I saw Him in my husband’s eyes as he coached me through the birth of our two beautiful daughters—strong, steady, and calm. I saw Him in my father’s eyes as he gently reminded my mother after her stroke that she wasn’t going anywhere. Every time a towel is warmed to comfort an aching body, a hug is given, a hand is held, or a life is quietly cared for, I see Him there.

Holding the football has taught me that Christ doesn’t leave us on the sidelines. He is not always shouting instructions, but steady and attentive, keeping us close to Him. He remains faithful to us. He walks onto the field with us. He gives us the freedom to run, the wisdom to pause, and the grace to know when to place the ball back into His hands.

And when we do, we remember what was true all along: Christ is already with us, steady and attentive, ready to carry us home.

Heavenly Father, thank you so much for giving Your life for us and inviting us into Your victory each day. Thank You Lord for guiding my life and always being on the field with me. Thank You for reminding me that when I place the ball in your hands there is always a greater peace. Have a beautiful day, Lord. Amen.
